A Devotional Thought for Today

I am speaking to you. Can you hear Me? Slow down and listen carefully. You are too busy and need to say no to some of the things that take you away from Me. Maybe you need to stop watching television or listening to music and allow there to be silence. Don’t be afraid of the silence; it is not your enemy. It is often in the silence of your life that I allow you to reflect on Me and what I have been leading you to be or do. It is also during these quiet times that I whisper My plans to you. Get ready; I have special things to share with you.

1 Kings 19:11-13

The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

Psalm 119:166

I wait for your salvation, O Lord, and I follow your commands.

Dear God,

Forgive me for allowing myself to get so busy that I don’t slow down enough to listen to You. I am here before You today with my spiritual ears open to hear You speak. I commit to listening to You more faithfully and following Your direction.

In Jesus’ name,
